Glossary

Data source A connected finance system — NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or Xero — that Kipper queries to answer questions.

Interface The place where you talk to Kipper — Slack, Microsoft Teams, or SMS.

Read-only Kipper can read your finance data to answer questions. It can never create, edit, or delete a single record — this is enforced at the architecture level.

SQL query The structured database query that Kipper generates from your plain-English question. Kipper translates your words into SQL and runs it against your synced finance data to produce a precise answer. There is no RAG or document search involved.

Sync The process by which Kipper copies the latest data from your finance system into its query layer. Kipper polls each connected source every 15 minutes and also receives live change notifications, so most updates are reflected within a few minutes.

Workspace Your organisation's isolated environment in Kipper. It holds your data source connections, team members, and permissions.

Workspace admin A Kipper user with full access to manage data sources, team members, permissions, and workspace settings. Only the admin needs finance system credentials to connect a data source.
