The Kipper Audit Log¶
The Audit Log is your workspace's record of who changed what, and when. It covers workspace settings, team membership, invitations, and user account activity. Every entry is written automatically, and nothing in it can be edited or deleted from the Kipper portal.
Read the log to answer questions like "who removed this member?", "when did this person join?", or "who renamed the workspace?".
Who can see it¶
Only Admin members. Members with the Standard role don't see the Audit Log link at all, and opening the page directly shows "You do not have permission to view audit logs."
Each workspace has its own separate log. If you belong to more than one workspace, switch to the workspace you want before opening the Audit Log.
Where to find it¶
- Click your name in the top-right corner of the Kipper portal
- Choose Workspace Settings
- Click Audit Log in the left sidebar
What you'll see¶
Entries are listed newest first, 25 per page, with Previous and Next buttons at the bottom of the table.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Timestamp | Date and time of the change, in your browser's local time zone |
| User | Who made the change, with their name and email address |
| Action | A color-coded label (Created, Updated, or Deleted) plus a plain-English description of what happened |
| Details | A view details link, shown when the entry has recorded field-level changes |
What gets recorded¶
| Area | Examples of what appears |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Workspace created; workspace renamed from one name to another; workspace deleted |
| Members | A new member added; a member joined by accepting an invitation; a member activated or deactivated; a role changed from Standard to Admin |
| Invitations | An invitation sent to an email address; an invitation accepted; an invitation removed |
| User accounts | An account created; a profile name updated; an email address changed; an email address verified; a password changed, reset, or a reset requested |
Descriptions name the person involved wherever Kipper knows it. For example: "Role changed for jane@example.com: Standard → Admin".
Viewing the details of a change¶
Click view details on any row to open the Action Details window. It has two parts:
- Who Made the Change: the person's name, email address, and user ID
- What Was Changed: each field that changed, with the previous value and the new value side by side
Security-sensitive values are never stored in readable form. Passwords, two-factor secrets, and backup codes appear as [REDACTED], so the log shows that a change happened without exposing the value itself.
Entries by "Kipper System"¶
Some changes aren't made by a person. A workspace created during your initial setup, or an invitation cleaned up automatically after a member is provisioned, are two examples. These entries are attributed to Kipper System, so it's clear the change wasn't made by a member of your team.
What the Audit Log doesn't cover¶
The Audit Log currently covers workspace and account administration. It is not a record of:
- Questions your team asks Kipper. Conversation history lives with each interface: the AI Assistant, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or SMS.
- Data source activity. Connecting, reconnecting, disconnecting, and sync runs are shown on the Data Sources page instead.
- Permission set assignments. Which members hold which permission set on a data source is managed and shown on that data source. See Permission Sets.
- Anything in your finance system. Kipper is read-only and never writes to QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite, so there is nothing for it to log there. Changes made inside your finance system are recorded by that system's own audit trail.
There is currently no search, filter, or export on this page. Entries are reviewed by paging through the list.
