Common Questions¶
Can Kipper change anything in my data?¶
No. Kipper is strictly read-only by architecture. It cannot create, edit, or delete any records.
Why is Kipper's answer different from what I see in my finance system?¶
Kipper queries a synced copy of your data. If you've made a change very recently, it may not yet be reflected — most data syncs within a few minutes.
How accurate are Kipper's answers?¶
Kipper translates your question into a SQL query and runs it against your actual finance data. Results can be incomplete if the question is ambiguous, source data has gaps, or the question falls outside connected data scope.
Why did Kipper say it can't answer my question?¶
Kipper returns an honest "I don't know" rather than guessing. Usually means: data isn't available, question is outside user permissions, or the question is ambiguous.
My team member gets different results than me. Why?¶
Access controls are per user. Your workspace admin may have scoped different users to different data subsets.
Do I need a finance system login to use Kipper?¶
No. Only the admin who connects the data source needs finance system credentials.
Does Kipper train AI models on my data?¶
No. Kipper does not use customer data to train general machine learning models without explicit written agreement.
How long does the initial data sync take?¶
Initial sync times apply to finance data sources. Slack, Microsoft Teams, and SMS interfaces activate immediately once connected.
- NetSuite: 10–30 minutes
- QuickBooks Online: 5–15 minutes
- Xero: 5–15 minutes
Where is my data stored?¶
On AWS servers in the United States. Encrypted in transit and at rest.
Why am I seeing a red banner about my workspace?¶
Kipper shows a red banner across the top of the Dashboard, AI Assistant, Interfaces, and Data Sources pages (including the detail view of a specific data source) when your workspace is in a restricted state. There are three possible messages:
| Banner message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Your free trial has expired. Please contact support to upgrade." | Your workspace's free trial period has ended. |
| "Your workspace has been suspended. Please contact support." | Your workspace has been suspended by Kipper support (usually for billing reasons). |
| "Your access to this workspace has expired. Please contact support." | A complimentary or time-limited access period has ended. |
While the banner is showing, you can still view the workspace — read data sources and look at previously answered questions. What is blocked:
- Connecting a new data source or reconnecting an expired OAuth token
- Enabling a new interface or reconnecting an existing one
- Data pulls (scheduled polling and webhook-triggered syncs)
- Clearing or disconnecting a data source
